Financial Accounting Manager - Crawley Job details Salary: Competitive Hours: Full Time Location: Hybrid working -The VHQ Crawley 3 days on site per week Contract: 12 month fixed term contract/Secondment Closing Date: 25th November In a nutshell The purpose of this role is to establish, operate and control the VAA Direct Operating Cost and Cargo business accounting flows into the G/L as well as to oversee accounting in several other areas such as Payroll, prepayments, and Barters. This role must deliver accurate, reliable, and timely books of account for these areas of Virgin Atlantic revenue & cost in line with business requirements and recognised in accordance with IFRS. You will be accountable for the accurate reporting of VAA costs and will play a key role in developing and maintaining the DOC recognition process. The expectation is that you will be able to make a significant contribution towards improving and de-risking the monthly close process while ensuring all GL postings are accurate & complete. Day to day Month-End Close Oversee and ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end close processes. Supervise the recognition of cost accruals and cargo revenue by working day 3 (WD3). Review team outputs to ensure accurate and complete accounting entries during the month-end cycle. Act as the main point of contact for queries and discussions on results, challenging and pushing back when necessary. Balance Sheet Control & Business Reporting Manage balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy for provisions, accruals, prepayments, and payroll. Analyse variances in accounts and investigate discrepancies. Conduct periodic audits of reconciliations to uphold best practices and compliance. Ensure all financial and regulatory reporting is completed accurately and on time. Process & System Improvements Lead efforts to document, streamline, and improve key processes, ensuring robust controls and cross-training to mitigate 'key person' risks. Collaborate with ERP teams to successfully implement Oracle Fusion and other system upgrades. Drive changes for process simplification and improvement projects, challenging plans where needed. Team Leadership & Development Manage team performance by setting clear objectives and providing regular feedback. Support skills development and address performance issues where necessary. Align the team with organisational policies, brand values, and behaviours. About you Qualified ACCA or ACA professional. Strong appreciation of revenue and cost accounting financial systems - preferably Oracle financials/TM1/Business Objects. Proven team leadership and management skills, coaching, developing and delegating Strong ability to exercise independent professional judgment and problem-solving skills within an overall business context. Ability to dissect, redesign and implement process simplification identifying weak processes and controls for improvement. Resilient personality and the ability to self-motivate. Positive and pragmatic approach to achieving results. Attention to detail and pursuit of accuracy/completeness. Strong on MS Office in particular Excel and presentation tools (Power BI & PowerPoint preferred).
