Job Overview
Phoenix Tavinor Engineering is seeking an experienced (preferred) laser and press brake operative to contribute towards the completion of kitted packages for welders and assemblers. This role involves using Bystronic fibre optic laser equipment to cut profiles from steel, Bystronic press brake equipment to form the cut profiles then the understanding of bills of materials on drawings to kit with componentry to create full packages ready for the next operation. Kitting can involve picking nuts, bolts, fixings, sawing up pipework etc on a bandsaw.
The role is quite diverse day to day but in general would be rotation through those different areas where required to meet the needs of the business. Experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be offered to the right individual. The start of the training period will involve only the basic operation of pre-set machinery with the possibility of upskilling to setting and proving offered as part of progression to employees who are able.
Candidates with a good background in manufacturing and following robust procedures will be considered without specific experience with Bystronic laser and pressing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate laser cutting machines and press brake equipment
2. Kit packages referring to bills of materials on drawing layouts which can include some saw and toolroom operations
3. Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
4. Ensure high-quality standards and precision in metal fabrication
5. Carry out routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
6. Work efficiently to meet production deadlines
Requirements:
1. Previous experience operating laser cutting machines and press brakes preferred
2. Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes preferred
3. Ability to read engineering drawings
4. Attention to detail and commitment to quality
5. Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
