Working primarily with the member of the Dental Education Board, Dental Dean and the Director of Education and Assessment, to shape and guide the strategic development and delivery of dental education by RCPSG. To represent RCPSG on dental education and postgraduate training issues and to keep RCPSG updated on the major issues affecting dental education and training in the UK and internationally.
The post holder will work alongside and be supported by the Director of Education and Assessment.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Commitment:
* Board governance experience is required to Chair the College’s Dental Education Board with responsibility for Education and Professional Development activities at RCPSG, this includes attendance at quarterly meetings (virtual attendance).
* Education lead on Executive Board, including attendance at quarterly meetings (3x virtual and x1 in person).
* Wide knowledge of postgraduate dental education issues and familiarity with educational concepts that will support current and prospective Members and Fellows.
* A keen interest in dental skills training and further skills development.
* Demonstrable interest/experience in College activity; involvement in other RCPSG Committees and or/events.
* Political awareness of stakeholders and major competitor/collaborative arrangements in connection with other organisations involved in postgraduate dental education.
* Experience of developing dental education would be desirable, including course, conference or online learning.
* Provide regular support to the Director of Education and Assessment in their decision making and provide clinical expertise to assist in the development of the annual calendar of educational events.
* To assist in the identification of suitable faculty to develop and deliver dental education both in the UK and internationally.
* Review and approve RCPSG course and conferences CPD development outcomes (5-10 per annum).
* Review and approve endorsed events (5-10 per annum).
* Liaise with Dental Examinations Board on examiner training issues.
* Represent the College as Director of Dental Education at external meetings as required/have capacity.
* Currently in good standing with employer, College(s) and GDC.
Term of office
4 years in the first instance. This term may be extended by mutual agreement.
