U-Drive are recruiting for a dynamic and strategic team manager with an exceptional eye for detail and a working knowledge of mechanical operations. The role will see you working alongside an upbeat, customer-focussed and professional team in delivering business orientated top level service to our customer base in dealing with all proactive and reactive fleet queries. About the Role As a Fleet Maintenance Manager, you will be taking responsibility for a maintenance budget of £4.5m, overseeing a team of seven call handlers, technical authorisers and administrative support in co-ordinating SMR works for a fleet of 4000 vehicles. This role requires someone who understands the importance of concise and timely communication between departments within the business and external suppliers. Core Responsibilities Full responsibility for the performance management of the team of seven employees Keeping track of, and ensuring all aspects of vehicle compliance including annual testing, loler, safety inspections, rfl etc Planning and management of scheduled vehicle maintenance, liaising with rental branches, workshops/suppliers and the customer Take accountability for the end-to-end management of breakdowns and emergency call Management and development of the external vehicle maintenance supply chain, including onboarding service providers, quality control, and scheduled auditing to ensure continuous quality of service. Streamlining of existing suppliers, works approvals and workflow processes to maximise business revenue and minimise unnecessary cost Responsibility for management and identification of warranty claims Recharging of non-scheduled maintenance events to the customer where applicable and within Service Level Agreement requirements Streamlining of suppliers, works approvals and workflow processes to maximise business revenue and minimise unnecessary cost Requirements About You Successful candidates should demonstrate the following skills and competencies: You will have proven leadership experience to include implementing process and of team training, ideally within a similar environment You’ll have a working mechanical knowledge base, understanding operational functionality and technical communication You will be an exceptional communicator, comfortable holding conversations at all levels from head office teams to workshops and branches to directors You will be a strong negotiator with demonstrable experience You will have an analytical mindset and be comfortable giving examples of departmental planning and execution You will have excellent time management skills You will be comfortable using Microsoft Office Suites and relevant technical software Benefits About Us U-Drive are an established family-owned vehicle rental company with a 42-year legacy, operating over 4,000 vehicles across daily rental, contract hire and leasing fleet in the UK.
