Rights Assistant (six-month fixed-term contract beginning mid-March) We’re looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join the busy and successful Adult Rights team on a six-month fixed-term contract, supporting the Rights Director and offering administrative support to assist the team in reaching our sales targets. Your team: The Rights Department are responsible for licensing rights across the whole adult publishing division, which includes the imprints of Macmillan, Macmillan Business, Pan, Picador, Bluebird, One Boat, Mantle, Tor and Macmillan Collector’s Library. We work closely with our sister companies in New York, Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, and Stuttgart, but also with other international publishers, whether big or small, to find the right homes for our authors. We work directly with publishers in the major European and North American markets, and through a network of co-agents, with specialist local knowledge, in other selected territories throughout the rest of the world. Your role: As the Rights Assistant, you will play a pivotal role by facilitating administrative and sales support to help the team reach their targets. You will act as a key point of contact between Rights, Editorial, Royalties, Production, and other in-house teams, as well as a wide range of external customers. Your key responsibilities: Providing administrative and sales support for the Adult Rights team Administering and processing sub-rights contracts, from deals being agreed to contracts being raised, signed, and invoiced The negotiation, sale, and supply of production materials to international publishers Administering the licensing of Permissions through the Publishers’ Licensing Society Data entry and accurate upkeep of our publishing database (Biblio), and generating reports Assisting with the creation of rights guides and materials for book fairs and overseas trips Organizing book fair and sales trip schedules Maintaining and building excellent customer relationships. Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you’ll need to succeed: Excellent administration skills with the ability to multi-task and work on several projects at the same time Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and customers Highly computer literate, with particularly strong skills in MS Office Excellent written, oral and numerical skills Ability to take the initiative and work autonomously as well as part of a team. Desirable skills we’d love you to have: Experience working in the publishing industry, ideally within rights Familiarity with Biblio.
