About this opportunity
Environmental Health is part of the Public Health and Communities Directorate and have officers based in Carlisle, Workington and Whitehaven. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our Food Safety and Environmental Protection teams. We are looking for individuals with a desire for personal growth, continual challenge and who will embrace a holistic approach to protecting and improving public health for local communities, public and businesses, as a core function of the Council.
Key responsibilities
1. To conduct all aspects of investigations into alleged noncompliance with environmental health legislation.
2. To conduct risk based programmed and reactive inspections, sampling and testing.
3. Provide business support and technical advice to businesses in Cumberland to encourage consumer protection and economic growth.
Who we’re looking for
Applicants are required to have a detailed knowledge of environmental health with more than 3 years environmental health experience, experience of leading on projects and leading a local authority prosecution case and who would meet the entry criteria for the degree or masters in environmental health. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a variety of audiences. Ability to plan and prioritise complex and demanding workloads. The candidate must also have a driving licence and transport, a good understanding of working with external partners and experience of being part of multi-disciplinary team.
