Job Summary To minister as a chaplain within the Department of Pastoral and Spiritual Care providing for the pastoral, spiritual, ethical and religious needs of service users, relatives and staff Key Results Area 1. To work ecumenically within a multi faith team offering ministry and support to people from a diverse background of culture and religion. 2. To work within both hospital and community locations with particular responsibility to the service based at Fieldhead, Wakefield. 3. To be ecumenically sensitive and pass on referrals as appropriate to chaplains of other denominations within the department. 4. To be able to establish and maintain pastoral involvement in behaviourally and emotionally challenging or distressing situations. 5. To work closely with colleagues from other healthcare disciplines especially in relation to patient care planning. To play a full part in discussions where spiritual care of patients is an important issue. 6. To meet as far as possible the particular spiritual and pastoral needs of patients belonging to the chaplains denomination or religion and to respond where appropriate to requests for help or advice from patients or other cultural or religious backgrounds. 7. To have a commitment to ones own professional and spiritual growth and development and to attend mandatory training 8. To be able to make independent judgement regarding spiritual care 9. To work within the professional guidelines and codes of practice as laid down by the relevant Chaplaincy Governing Bodies.
