Job Description
As our Head of Underwriting, you will work as part of our Charles Street division, which operates with great success supporting professional property developers, investors and SME’s to access bespoke funds for a wide variety of property based lending including Bridging finance, Buy-to-let, commercial mortgages, Development Loans and sub-charge loans.
This role will focus on leading and mentoring the Underwriting team ensuring that we develop a high performing team that makes sound underwriting decisions and delivers excellent customer service.
As our Head of Underwriting, we are looking for someone to:
* Lead, motivate and manage the Underwriting team through a programme of 1-2-1's, skills gap analysis, appraisals, training and coaching to improve performance and develop colleagues
* Implement an effective case management process that ensures adherence to policies and procedures to provide a best in class service
* Monitor and report on the performance of the pre-funding team through tracking KPI's to celebrate success and / or identify areas of improvement
* Underwrite your own cases for higher value, more complex loan requests. Leading by example, demonstrating sound judgement and thorough analysis to mitigate risk, making the right decisions against our lending criteria
* Identify opportunities for improvements in processes, highlighting bottlenecks, delays and / or inefficient processes to enhance speed and customer experience
Qualifications
Essential
* Extensive Commercial Underwriting experience
* Significant experience of having managed an Underwriting Team
* Skilled in the ability to coach, upskill, support and manage a high performing team
* Strategic planning ability to determine resource requirements and implement effective ways of working
* Ability to influence at all levels
Desirable
* Experience of bridging and term loans
