As a result of an internal promotion, our award-winning finance team is looking to appoint a Finance Business Partner, who will actively engage with stakeholders to drive business success through financial insights and support. Dedicated to a specific set of projects, including functional and core accounts, the Finance Business Partner will act as the financial expert for budget holders, academics and funders, building strong partnerships to achieve success. Key responsibilities include: Business partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, offering financial insights and recommendations to support decision making. Provide an outstanding customer service whilst developing first class working relationships, investing time getting to know stakeholders and understanding their needs. Work closely with other areas of the finance team to ensure stakeholders have access to the best finance information and insight. Financial information: Lead regular meetings as the financial “go to” person, presenting financial performance information, progress and results. Assist and guide budget holders in the financial delivery of their accounts, embedding LSTM financial regulations, funder requirements, policies and processes. Work in conjunction with the contracts team to support with the completion of all financial related data Work with group leaders to develop and maintain resource and forecast models to maximise funds, manage cashflow and ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery. Insight & analytics: Interpret financial data, providing meaningful insights and understanding within the LSTM context. Understand anomalies and recommend action to mitigate any arising issues. Audit & compliance: Proactively engage and participate in the successful delivery of all LSTM financial audits. The successful candidate will bring: CIMA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent), or qualified by experience Proven experience of finance business partnering, with the ability to build fantastic working relationships Experience of managing and monitoring significant budgets, with sound understanding of financial management processes Experience of producing and presenting management information to stakeholders Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and customer-focused approach A resourceful, innovative, and tactful approach to resolving issues, taking ownership to ensure successful resolution A strong background in research management and knowledge of the funder environment would be beneficial for this role, however, this is not essential.
