An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Psychologist to join the Islington Resettlement Scheme Wellbeing Project. The purpose of the project is to provide an outreach and screening service for refugee families resettled in the London Borough of Islington. We offer holistic assessments and treatment of complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and common mental health difficulties, such as anxiety, low mood, and panic. We also offer a programme of workshops and skills groups, as well as reflective practice, consultation, and liaison with caseworkers in the council's resettlement team. The project sits within the Traumatic Stress Clinic.
Main duties of the job
The role of the assistant psychologist will include setting up, conducting, and writing up assessments, drawing up and coordinating care plans, signposting, and making referrals to other services where necessary. It will also include providing mental health interventions including psychoeducation and symptom management sessions, behavioural activation, community linking, and supporting workshops and groups on common mental health difficulties. The post holder may hold their own caseload and be expected to carry out other duties assigned by the service manager and clinical leads. A substantial part of the role will be assisting with data collection and carrying out audits to inform service delivery. The post holder will work under the supervision of other qualified and experienced clinical psychologists. Experience supporting refugees and/or survivors of trauma is highly desirable. We are keen to recruit an enthusiastic and committed individual who shares our team's passion for human rights and social justice.
