About GBRX
The industry partnership for digital railway (IPDR) under the GBRx banner, is a national and cross industry enterprise, with the mission of creating the next generation railway. This pioneering industry partnership will deliver a major transformation through the deployment of digital train control technology known as the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS). At the forefront of this mission is the delivery of the East Coast Digital Programme, which is the first intercity railway to migrate to digital signalling and is the third phase of the digital railway masterplan.

Brief Description
We are recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer for Industry Partnership for Digital Railway. To support the development, design and construction activities across a portfolio of projects and initiatives. To help achieve the industry's strategic objectives, we require an innovative thinker and problem solver with European Train Control System (ETCS) experience or understanding to support further ETCS development and deployment within GB.
About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities:
1. Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects, compliant with all relevant legislation.
2. Engineer Projects to the standards and specification of Network Rail.
3. Manage all engineering activities to ensure schemes are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
4. Maintain the use of relevant techniques and procedures of quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis.
5. Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.
6. Provide project management advice in respect of all construction activities.
7. Ensure internal and contractor's design/construction/specialist personnel are competent.
8. Undertake reviews of design and/or construction activities.
9. Carry out the duties of designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects.
10. Identify and share best practice across the various project teams.
Essential:
* Successful relevant experience in signalling engineering.
* Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level.
* Knowledge of quality assurance.
* An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.
* CDM, risk assessment, engineering management competency.
Desirable:
* Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
* Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects.
* An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
* Project safety management experience.
* CSM RA.
