Validation Engineer (Test Rig Calibration)
Working with the test unit, checking rigs, components, products are up to standard and meet customer requirements.
The position of Validation Engineer (Rig Calibration) is for dedicated calibration and test system configuration support within engineering. An expert in configuring and calibrating powertrain control modules to operate on both standard and bespoke test systems and facilities. While the role is calibration biased, you will be expected to work closely with cross-functional team leaders in software, hardware and validation, as well as with project and functional management. This will require you to grow highly competent in translating product development requirements into executable tasks which may also have mechanical, electrical, and software elements. You will additionally ensure that all development facilities are continuously up to date against the latest project requirements, and maintain the version control thereof. In summary, you will be responsible for delivering key project objectives that ensures advanced development facility readiness at all times.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Act as the dedicated calibration and test system configuration support for on-site test & validation.
• Understand customer project development requirements and configure test & validation systems accordingly.
• Build up and maintain a test and validation facility configuration library.
• Plan and prioritize system configuration requirements on appropriate test facilities to meet project team and project objectives.
• Keep test facility calibration and software is up to date versus project status and aligned with test system-specific modifications required ensuring operational capability.
• Manage datasets, database and version control to comply with retention and IATF16949 audits compliance requirements.
• Enhance and develop relevant internal tools, processes & procedures.
• Compile technical reports and presentations citing clear analysis and summaries for decision making.
• Escalate risks and issues to core team members and management in a timely manner.
Experience & Qualifications: Mandatory
• Experience of working with FIE calibration.
• Excellent communications skills, with ability to present information at management level.
• Significant product knowledge for FIE components and systems.
Desirable
• Educated to a minimum of degree level in Automotive, Mechanical or Software Engineering, Science, Mathematics or similar.
• Calibration, software, or system development and validation experience in a powertrain development environment.
• Exposure to mechanical and/or electromechanical components and electro-mechanical products.
• Understanding of hydraulic systems.
Highly Desirable
• Sound mechanical understanding of fuel injection equipment and fluid dynamics.
• Hydraulic systems development & integration experience.
