Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Office based - Newtown, UK
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 + Car/ VAN + Overtime + Life Insurance
We are working with an established System Integrator company based in Newtown, UK. They are recruiting for a Senior Controls Engineer to join their team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join their existing programming team, working in a growing business within a cutting-edge sector.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Write and maintain PLC/ HMI & Robot programming.
2. Experience of robot installation and commissioning beneficial - proficiency with ABB IRC5 programming desirable, or other leading robotics brands.
3. Write and maintain PLC programmes - predominantly Siemens S7-1200 PLC – other PLC experience also highly desirable (Allen Bradley).
4. Interpret customer’s and regulatory requirements to ensure software designs align with customer’s expectations.
5. Maintain a loyal customer base through commercial awareness.
6. Provide technical support in collaboration with Electrical Engineering and Commissioning teams.
7. Ensure projects are delivered right first time, on time and in full.
8. Provide expert input for economical programming strategies.
9. Support business development through continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
10. Understand engineering principles in Control System design.
11. Deliver solutions to technical problems.
12. Work within a multi-skilled environment (knowledge of electrical and pneumatic components).
13. Provide quality information within deadlines.
14. Proactive interaction with other functions and projects.
15. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
16. Willingness to travel as required – MAX 30%.
17. Experience in software design of industrial automation in a manufacturing environment.
18. Evaluate technical requirements and provide viable solutions.
19. Interpret customer requirements and present design solutions.
20. Commercially aware of effective use of resources.
21. Experience of Integration of robotics into automation solutions.
22. Experience with digital commissioning & simulation.
23. Perform critical linkage between internal departments focusing on technical aspects of a project.
Requirements:
HND/ Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience.
Desirable Requirements:
Apprentice trained in electrical or mechatronic engineering discipline and post-apprenticeship software design experience desirable. Candidates with prior experience working with ABB robots, accredited training certs, and Siemens PLCs are preferred.
