The SET CAMHS Crisis and Therapeutic Home Treatment team offers assessment and interventions to young people presenting with mental deterioration or crisis presentations. We work within the Thrive model and implement collaborative care plans with our community services and community SET CAMHS team to promote positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families. Our approach focuses on meeting the needs of the young person to ensure effective clinical practice and brief therapeutic interventions, reducing risk to have a stabilising impact within a containing approach. Opportunities for development and training in various therapeutic approaches are available, and all new starters will receive a full induction and opportunities to shadow the team and learn about various departments/teams within the SET CAMHS model. Regular clinical supervision and reflective space are offered to team members, operating under a shared risk model to ensure collective decision-making with effective formulations of need.
Main Duties of the Job
As a senior member of the team, you will lead in the oversight and management of clinical practice within your local area while also contributing to service development across Essex, Southend, and Thurrock. You will work closely alongside an operational senior practitioner for peer support and provide feedback to management regularly via meetings and case discussions. This position focuses on developing therapeutic outcomes for young people and families receiving care under the pathway and developing resources and training to improve and monitor clinical effectiveness. You will be involved in direct clinical work, overseeing case formulations jointly with the community team, and offering clinical supervision to team members.
This post will mainly focus on community intervention and support. We seek a qualified and experienced clinician with a strong background in assessing, managing, and working with clinical risk to join our expanding multidisciplinary team, which provides intensive community-based support and brief intervention to young people and families in mental health crisis.

The office base for this post will be within the North Essex area (Colchester), but the service covers Essex wide, utilizing agile working. The service provides evidence-based NICE compliant psychological interventions to children and young people with mental health difficulties and complex needs, and their families experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties. As an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will:
* Have enthusiasm and drive to be part of a senior management team responsible for nurturing and developing the service.
* Work with senior clinicians and managers to support the delivery of effective evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people and families requiring more intensive therapeutic support.
* Provide specialist assessments where appropriate, informing interventions with children, young people, and their families.
* Deliver and formulate a range of therapeutic interventions, including parent work, group work, and short-term brief focused interventions, ensuring a high-quality, timely, accessible, and evidence-based service.
* Provide consultation and training to support junior team members and external professionals, including Social Care and mainstream CAMHS services.
* Provide supervision support and education to junior team members, including students, and contribute to multidisciplinary decision-making.
* Offer short interventions to help young people manage crises and support transitions to local community teams, signposting, and/or discharge.

Qualification Criteria
This post is suitable for a post-graduate qualified psychological practitioner (e.g., clinical psychologist, family therapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist) who is fully registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g., HCPC, BABCP, UKCP, AFT, ACP) and has experience working with high-risk client groups. We also welcome applications from mental health nurses and social workers with relevant training (e.g., post-graduate qualification - Systemic Practitioner, DBT, CBT, Non-Medical Prescribing), experience, and registrations (e.g., NMC, HCPC).
