The role is hybrid; however, the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.

Birmingham City Council is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Children and Families Directorate as Elective Home Education (EHE) Managers. In this vital role, you will lead and manage a team to provide high-quality support services to families and schools, ensuring that home-educated children are safeguarded and have access to suitable education. If you have a strong background in education or family support services, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to safeguarding, we want to hear from you!
As an EHE Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting families who choose to educate their children at home. You will develop and review policies and procedures, ensure effective partnership working with key stakeholders, and provide professional support and challenge to ensure that home-educated children thrive. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing a team and promoting the welfare of children.
2. Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
3. Fostering good relationships to achieve positive educational outcomes.
We are looking for candidates with a degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field, and significant management experience in education or family support services. You should have a thorough understanding of relevant policies, practices, and legislative frameworks, as well as experience in supervising individuals and managing conflicting demands. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will be producing professional documents, delivering presentations, and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is also key for this role.
