Our Story
Manchester City Women are a leading WSL football club initially founded in 1988. The team has enjoyed success in not only the WSL but also the Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres League Cup, while regularly competing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The team plays its home fixtures at Joie Stadium, a 7,000 capacity arena. The stadium sits on the wider Etihad Campus, which also encompasses the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training and development facility that houses its women’s, men’s and academy teams.
Are you a successful Academy leader looking for a new challenge? We’re looking for a Head of Academy to lead our Manchester City Girls Academy. You will provide an outstanding development environment, where girls and young women can maximise their potential, whilst developing technically, tactically, psychologically and socially.
You’ll lead the team to produce a pipeline of players, equipped with the Man City playing style, for our Women’s 1st Team, the wider CFG clubs and professional game.

1. Lead the Academy Management Team in the creation and delivery of the Academy Strategy and Performance Plan.
2. Develop an outstanding age-appropriate football development programme across the girl’s youth pathway, working under the technical direction of the Director of Football.
3. Implement the club’s football playing philosophy and methodology, under the direction of the Director of Women’s Football, ensuring the academy players and teams display the Man City playing style.
4. Build and maintain excellent relationships with players, parents, agents, staff, and other key stakeholders to facilitate achieving the strategic objectives of the Academy and Man City Women.
5. Work closely with the Director of Football and 1st Team Head Coach regarding the current and longer-term performances of individual athletes and teams.
6. Lead the creation and delivery of a world-class talent ID and recruitment programme to ensure the best talent is identified for Man City Women.
7. Liaise closely with relevant national federation coaching departments to ensure player transition and IDP’s are being met during international camps/tournaments.
8. Oversee the budget, resources, and logistical planning for the academy.
What we are looking for
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
* Extensive knowledge and experience in a leadership position within an elite football academy structure and operating environment.
* Exceptional technical knowledge of long-term player development within youth football.
* A passion for youth development and working with young people.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
* Positive, solution-focused attitude.
* Desire for self and others to reach the highest possible standards of performance.
* Proven experience of long-term planning and working strategically.
* Ability to juggle multiple complex projects simultaneously.
* Able to create a safe, engaging and enjoyable environment for young people.
* Experience setting up/working within an elite player recruitment environment.
