Overview
I am a 27-year-old man who lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a progressive neuromuscular condition. I have been using a powered wheelchair since 2015. I am a determined individual who tries to make the most of life. I studied Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham and MSc Science Communication at the University of Sheffield. I have worked in healthcare communications and I’m currently pursuing a part-time MSc in Sustainable Development at SOAS. I have a keen interest in healthcare, science, and being outdoors. Music is one of my passions, and I enjoy DJing and making music when I have time. I am looking for someone who shares these interests and can support me in living an independent life while at home.
I require assistance with daily tasks, personal care (hoisting, toileting, showering/washing, dressing, daily stretching, weekly swimming/hydrotherapy), domestic tasks (meal and drink preparation, maintaining a clean environment, cleaning ventilator, hoovering, ironing, making the bed), socializing (attending events), working from home, and general support. Being able to drive a Motability vehicle (automatic) is essential for this role.
I am looking for someone to work 26 hours a week, specifically on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with flexibility in the evenings and Sundays. The rate of pay is £13.15 per hour.
* Working hours:
o 9-hour/12-hour shifts Monday and Tuesday (Availability between 07:30 am – 19:30 pm)
o 4-hour/5-hour shift Wednesday evening (Availability between 18:30 pm – 11:30 pm)
o Flexibility to work some evenings or Sundays
* Extra hours worked will be paid for subject to agreement.
