The Wharf Nursery School is seeking a Clerk to our Governing Body. We are looking for someone who is efficient, values confidentiality, and has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This role involves approximately 30 hours per term of work (90 hours over the course of a year). It is a flexible role that can work alongside other commitments. Much of this work can be carried out remotely and in a flexible manner.
Responsibilities:
* Attend approximately 6 Full Governing Body Meetings (FGM) in person over the course of the year and take minutes. The meetings are held at The Wharf Nursery School from 4pm - 6pm (half termly).
* Compile a meeting pack ahead of the FGM, liaising with the Chair of Governors to create the agenda and circulate information and reports to the Governors up to 2 weeks before the FGM.
* After the FGM, complete and circulate the minutes to all Governors.
There is also an element of Governance advice and support that the Clerking role involves. Full training for this is available, and there is ongoing support.
This involves:
* Advising the Governing Body on constitutional and procedural matters, duties, and powers.
* Updating Governors on changes in legislation and policy.
* Supporting the school on Governance procedures and how to improve Governance.
* Helping the board to remain compliant with legal requirements.
