DOORCO is growing and our expansion strategy includes the growth of our first Yorkshire site based close to Doncaster in Thorne. We are now recruiting the role of Site Operations Manager – Doncaster/Thorne. The successful candidate will bring passion and solutions to our new operation.

Our successful Site Operations Manager – Doncaster/Thorne will be an ambitious leader and have experience of a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment, where quality and “doing what is needed” is part of your DNA. You will be willing to challenge the norm and can add innovation and creative thinking whilst taking the lead responsibility of putting actions into place.

Duties include, but are not limited to…
1. Lead the successful development of the Doncaster/Thorne site which will include recruitment, planning and managing a growing team.
2. Ensure the operation is compliant with health & safety, quality and other regulatory requirements – daily audits and resulting actions.
3. Ensure output levels are being met for the production schedule, including proactive manpower planning to ensure the qualified staffing is in place, to deliver to the production schedule.
4. Ensure stock management is accurate through the use of our internal systems.
5. Systemise the warehouse locations and pick processes.
6. Monitor and report on area KPI’s for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment, setting targets to drive continuous improvement.
7. Attend and run the daily SQDC meetings to report on KPI’s and progress against the production schedule and to raise any issues or concerns, and then to ensure any resulting actions are implemented.
8. Contribute ideas and encourage others to identify opportunities for further improvements to the manufacturing operation.
9. Ensure SOP’s & Risk Assessments are created and maintained.
10. Ensure that all manufacturing equipment is used correctly and kept in good condition, following the PPM schedules.
11. Assist in establishing key processes to manage manufacturing flow throughout the shop floor including accurate recording of job status and progress. Lead by example in how these processes are to be operated, which will mean hands on work at times.
12. Ensure all jobs (and paperwork) are completed to the required standard, and quality control standards are understood and adhered to.
13. Communicate with all team members across all operational areas to ensure that issues are discussed and resolved quickly, and also ensure open lines of communication are in place with supporting teams e.g., order processing to help smooth overall working together.
14. Working with the Quality Manager, review internal/external non-conformances relating to production shortcomings and fix root cause to reduce complaints.
15. Develop Quality in Process culture to reduce instances of the above.
16. Monitor general housekeeping and health and safety across the shop floor and continuously improve via implementation of a 5S workplace organisation.
17. Manage localised consumable stocks and carry out weekly orders which provide cover and contingency for stock outs.
18. Share knowledge with other team members, train where required, encourage others by having a constructive and positive attitude in the workplace. Be a role model in demonstrating the expected company working practices and behaviours, monitor others and escalate if they are not living the Values.
19. Provide “on the job training” for all staff members and ensure that they are trained to the required standard for the role being undertaken. Ensure cross training is in place to have enough cover for all tasks in the team and improve flexibility. Ensure the Skills & Training Matrix is maintained.

1. Proven hands-on experience in stand-alone operational leadership.
2. Proven manufacturing professional.

5. Implementing and sustaining key measures (KPIs).
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity.
8. Management of site security.
Desirable Experience and Skills…
1. Qualification in engineering is preferred.
2. Managed CNC machinery previously.
3. Quality and H&S management.
4. MRP/ERP/Planning Systems.
5. Implementing and sustaining lean tools and techniques (visual management, 5S, theory of constraints, etc).
6. Implementing and sustaining quality improvement tools (8D, FMEA, 5 why, RCA, etc).
7. World class/operational excellence but with the ability to establish foundation processes.
