Primary Objective
The primary objective of the Heavy Cable Recovery Supervisor is to oversee and manage the designated project from start to finish, ensuring that all documentation, services, and processes align with business requirements. Additionally, this role provides support to the Heavy Cable Recovery (HCR) engineers.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
* Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure delivery and compliance across all aspects of the contract.
* Assist with recovering cables from the underground duct network, cutting, identifying, documenting, and disposing of them at approved sites.
* Provide updates and communicate effectively with the back-office team.
* Raise and follow up on non-conformance reports, ensuring that any identified actions are pursued and resolved.
* Conduct site inspections at the start and end of each day.
* Manage multiple sub-contracting and direct labour (DL) site crews carrying out HCR on underground telecommunications networks.
* Accurately report HCR progress to the Senior Operations Manager and the customer.

Person Specification
To succeed in this role, the Supervisor must:
* Hold, or be willing to train for, Openreach SA002, K010, and MT003 accreditations.
* Hold, or be willing to train for, NRSWA S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, and S7 accreditations.
* Have knowledge of cable identification.
* Have experience working in underground telecommunications networks.
* Be available for night shifts (this is an essential requirement).
* Be willing to travel to various job locations within the working area.
* Be prepared to work away from home if required for operational needs.
* Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Be capable of working underground and in confined spaces within the underground network.
* Be able to work on roadsides, highways, and public footpaths.
* Be adaptable and flexible in their approach to work.
* Hold a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 12 months.
* Be highly motivated with strong attention to detail.
* Work independently using their own initiative.
* Possess excellent customer service skills.
* Be computer literate with the ability to operate a handheld device and use Outlook.
* Be flexible regarding working hours.
* Be prepared to work weekends if required (normally Saturdays).
* Be customer-focused, polite, and well-presented.
* Have a clean Basic DBS check (formerly CRB check).
* Hold a full UK driving licence with no more than six points, held for a minimum of 12 months.
Training
Full training will be provided at MJ Quinn’s state-of-the-art Training Academy. Our lead Openreach Assessors in Liverpool will train you, allowing you to gain full accreditation to begin working on the Openreach network for a national contract. Training will last between 2-3 weeks, depending on individual progress.
MJ Quinn will supply full Openreach training, a van, tooling, kit, PPE, and all necessary equipment.
