Our Finance department are seeking a Legal Cashier, specialising in Client Residual Balances to join the team. This role can be based in either our Birmingham, Manchester, or Exeter office. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules and supporting the firm's financial operations.
The Role
The Legal Cashier will play a vital role in managing client residual balances.
1. Assist the Client Accounting Manager and Client Cashier Supervisor in returning residual balances to clients promptly.
2. Run and update the firm's Client Balances Report.
3. Promote adherence to the firm's internal cashiering regulations and the Solicitors' Accounts Rules.
4. Analyse client account transactions and balances using internal systems.
5. Liaise with the Billing team for credit notes and invoice adjustments.
6. Handle internal and external queries efficiently.
7. Confirm client bank details before returning funds.
8. Attend weekly progress meetings with the finance team.
The Candidate
The ideal Legal Cashier will possess the following:
9. Client account cashiering experience in a law firm (essential).
10. Good knowledge of the Solicitors' Accounts Rules (essential).
11. Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
12. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
13. A proactive attitude and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
14. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
15. Experience using Elite 3e and Excel (preferable).
