Project Details
Project Director job vacancy to work on a major civil engineering and construction infrastructure project in Buckinghamshire/Hertfordshire. The projects values range from £25-80m. This role will incorporate stakeholder & client management. Full driving licence and CSCS card required for this Project Director role.
Responsibilities and Duties
Some of the key responsibilities and duties of Project Director will include:
1. Driving the design and liaising with the design team
2. Overall responsibility for the Contractor’s staff and Site visitors’ health, safety and wellbeing on Site
3. Chairing Project Progress meetings and collaboration meetings with interfacing contractors
4. Setting, monitoring and achieving project level KPIs
5. Leading and developing the project team
6. Being the day-to-day point of contact for the client Project Director and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) Project Manager
7. Addressing any escalated issues from the project leadership team
8. Reporting to the Board and to the Project Steering Committee
9. Feeding lessons and experience into the wider employer’s business
Desired Skills and Experience
The job experience required to perform the duties of the Project Director:
1. Proven experience in delivery of large scale, multi-year civil engineering projects, 50 mil +
2. Experience of design and build projects within water and earthworks sector strongly desired
3. Significant experience in all aspects of earthworks, highways and water infrastructure D&B
4. Building and managing an integrated team in a collaborative environment
5. Working closely with Clients and their advisors to ensure a one team approach
6. Managing major D&B schemes
7. Understanding the wider project context and client objectives such as supporting economic growth through the provision of a sustainable infrastructure
8. Designing and constructing environmental sensitive schemes
In addition, following skills & knowledge of Project Director are required:
1. Aware of BIM and CDE applications and how they are central to major project success
2. Able to lead a project controls manager to ensure timely and valuable reporting and management action
3. A thorough understanding of the NEC 4 Contract
4. Construction management including Design & Build in the water and earthworks sectors
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
MICE / Chartered Engineer with ICE or Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers status or similar strongly preferred, but not essential.
