Accounts Payable Accountant
Wärtsilä is an innovative technology company known for being a forerunner in the Marine and Energy markets. Our ultimate aim is to provide increased value to both our customers and society. We are now looking for a dedicated Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team in Fareham, UK, with some flexibility for home working as a hybrid solution after probation.
What you will be doing
In this position, your work will include processing invoices, managing payment runs, and inventory reporting. You will have the support of the finance team and be expected to have an understanding of accounts payable and experience working with vendors. As Accounts Payable Accountant, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
1. Manage accounts payable queries and invoice clearing, ensuring matching and correct posting of PL invoices.
2. Create and maintain supplier accounts with appropriate approvals.
3. Create BACS runs for vendor payments and raise manual bank payments where required.
4. Provide weekly cash flow reports and ensure business liquidity.
5. Maintain the GR-IR account, working closely with Purchasing to minimize differences.
6. Chase invoice clearing for month-end closing and advise workflow users as appropriate.
7. Raise and post accrual and pre-payment journals in line with accounting procedures.
8. Handle inventory reporting and settlements, including provisions required for reporting purposes.
9. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and internal controls as required.
10. Identify potential operational efficiencies and improvements to working practices.
11. Maintain financial controls within the business.
12. Prioritize workload to meet competing demands of the organization.
13. Instill and promote working relationships with all levels of management and employees.
14. Assist with ad hoc tasks and financial audits, and provide cover for reception and AR where necessary.
