Role Summary:
The History Teacher will deliver a comprehensive and dynamic curriculum in History to students in Key Stages 3 through 5, fostering a love for history, critical inquiry, and academic growth. The teacher will develop lesson plans that cover major historical periods, themes, and debates, tailored to varying abilities and exam board requirements.
Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Delivery:
* Plan and deliver engaging history lessons from KS3 (ages 11-14) to KS5 (ages 16-18) that align with the national curriculum and exam board specifications.
* Foster historical knowledge, analytical skills, and curiosity about the past in students.
* Design varied and inclusive lessons that cater to different learning styles and levels.

Assessment and Feedback:
* Conduct regular assessments to evaluate students’ understanding and progress.
* Provide constructive feedback to help students improve historical analysis, essay writing, and critical thinking skills.
* Prepare students for end-of-year exams, GCSEs, and A-level exams, ensuring they meet learning objectives.

Student Support and Development:
* Identify and address individual learning needs and provide additional support as required.
* Encourage students to develop independent research skills and a critical approach to historical sources.
* Promote an inclusive classroom environment, respecting diverse perspectives and histories.
4.
Administrative Duties:
* Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, progress, and grades.
* Prepare and report on students’ progress for parents, guardians, and school leadership.
* Participate in department meetings and contribute to curriculum planning and resource development.
5.
Professional Development:
* Stay up-to-date with changes in the curriculum, exam requirements, and pedagogical methods.
* Attend professional development courses and workshops to improve teaching practices.
Key Requirements:
* Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in History or a related field; Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
* Experience: Teaching experience at KS3 to KS5; familiarity with GCSE and A-Level History requirements.
* Skills:
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
* Proficiency in using ICT for lesson planning, delivery, and assessment.
