Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 permanent Phlebotomists based at University Hospital Ayr and a Bank Phlebotomist, covering both Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals.
What you will do:
You will obtain blood samples from patients by venepuncture within wards and outpatient clinics within NHS Ayrshire & Arran whilst adhering to standard operating procedures.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
You should be qualified to SVQ/NVQ level 3 in a healthcare related subject and preferably have experience of Phlebotomy in a hospital setting; however, full training will be provided in all aspects of the job. A basic understanding of I.T. is required and previous experience of Trakcare and PMS would be an advantage. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as having the ability to set patients at ease.
You will work as part of a team in a multidisciplinary setting; however, once trained, will be expected to work without direct supervision.
Hours:
1. Post 1: 20hr post, 7.30 – 11.30am, Mon – Sun
2. Post 2: 8hr post, 7.30 – 11.30am, Sat & Sun
3. Bank Post: Mon – Sun as required
Flexibility regarding the exact days and times of work periods is expected, and you may be required to cover hours/days that are not your regular shifts. The initial training for this post will take place Mon – Fri 07.30-11.30am; however, weekend working will be expected of the successful candidate once fully trained.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
You may be required to work across other sites within NHS Ayrshire and Arran; therefore, having a UK drivers' licence and your own transport is essential.
