Merrifield Consultants are delighted to be partnering with DEBRA, the national charity and patient support organisation for people living with the rare, extremely painful, genetic skin blistering condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Following exciting and consistent growth in income generation over the past two years, the charity is looking to recruit a Deputy Director of Fundraising; someone to lead on delivery of the charity’s Trust and Foundations income stream, support the existing Director of Fundraising through provision of strategic oversight and leadership and ensure the continuity of fundraising operations.

Reports to: Director of Fundraising
Location: Bracknell, Berkshire
Terms: Full time, permanent, hybrid (2-3 days in the office)
Salary: £55k - £60k plus generous benefits
DEBRA was initially established as a patient support group in 1978 but has since grown into a national organisation supporting more than 3,800 members, to include people living with EB, relatives, partners, or carers of someone with EB, healthcare professionals and researchers who work with EB. The charity delivers community support, respite and specialist healthcare, as well as funding essential research to tackle this devastating condition.
The Deputy Director of Fundraising is a newly created role and the post holder will have full accountability for delivery of the Trusts and Foundations income stream as well as line management responsibility for an Individual Giving Manager, Runs and Challenges Manager and a Trusts Administrator. The post-holder will also oversee and support colleagues in these teams to hit their targets, work closely with senior colleagues and departments across all sites to meet targets and organisational objectives, as well as coordinating all monitoring and compliance requirements.
Skills and Experience:
* Extensive experience in high value trusts and foundations fundraising or equivalent high value fundraising.
* Proven track record of securing five and six-figure grants and in writing successful multi-year funding bids.
* Knowledge of the UK philanthropic landscape and key grant-making bodies.
* Strong leadership, management and strategic planning skills, with experience in developing and motivating teams
* Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
* Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft compelling funding proposals.
* Proven ability to build long-term relationships with funders and high-level stakeholders.
* Analytical mindset, able to interpret financial and impact data to support bids.
* Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously.
* Familiarity with CRM systems like Access.
