Service Asset & Configuration Manager

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Service Asset & Configuration Manager to join our clients growing team. This pivotal role will establish and maintain an accurate and up-to-date Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and ensure IT assets and their configuration are properly controlled and documented.
This company doesn;t have a CMDB in place and have never had a Configuration Manager so this is a greenfield role. They use Service Desk Plus there but have never utilised the CMDB tool within it. Part of the job will be getting the assets into it and linking everything up.
If the only ITSM platform you have used is ServiceNow you might struggle with this role as Service Desk Plus is veyr different. If you have worked with several ITSM systems and ServiceNow is one of them please do apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish and Maintain CMDB : Develop and maintain a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to track IT assets and configuration items (CIs).
* Process Management : Define, implement, and manage the SACM process, ensuring compliance and promoting its use across the organization.
* Change Management Support : Work with Change Management to document and authorize changes to the IT environment.
* Audit and Reporting : Regularly audit the CMDB for accuracy and generate reports to provide insights into configuration management status and performance.
* Collaboration : Work closely with IT teams and third-party vendors to manage IT assets, ensuring alignment with industry standards, security policies, and regulatory obligations.
* Training and Awareness : Conduct training sessions and create reference materials to promote SACM practices and the importance of maintaining the CMDB.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
* Experience : Extensive experience in IT configuration management or a related discipline, with the ability to hit the ground running in a greenfield environment.
* ITSM Knowledge : Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles, particularly SACM methodology. Experience with multiple ITSM platforms is beneficial, particularly Service Desk Plus.
* Certifications : ITIL Foundation certificate or higher.
* Technical Skills : Proficiency in CMDB tools and IT asset management software. Solid knowledge of software development lifecycle.
* Communication : Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with both technical teams and senior management.
* Analytical Skills : Demonstrated effective analytical skills with experience in reporting and using the Microsoft Office suite.
Additional Information
* Location : Preferably Swansea, but open to London candidates.
* Work Arrangement : Hybrid working model with 2 days in the office and 3 days from home.
* Team Dynamics : Autonomous role with no direct team, working closely with the Change Manager in Swansea and reporting to the Senior Transition Manager in London.
* Technology : Experience with Service Desk Plus is preferred. Familiarity with ServiceNow might be less applicable due to significant differences.
