Borough Road & Nunthorpe Medical Group require an experienced Practice Nurse
Due to maternity leave an exciting opportunity has become available to join our well-regarded training practice as a Practice Nurse. With a list size of 16,000 patients, we operate from two sites based in central Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe. We expect this position to become permanent at the end of the fixed 12 month period.
What are we looking for?
A motivated positive team orientated person with previous experience of general practice nursing duties, an understanding of QOF, chronic disease management (Asthma, COPD and Diabetes), cytology, and childhood immunisations. You may feel that you are less experienced or still developing in some of these areas, we understand this and would actively encourage and welcome your interest and application for the position.

Main duties of the job
The followingare the core responsibilities of the practice nurse.
1. Undertake immunisations, Injections and vaccinations
2. Chronic disease management ( COPD / Asthma / Diabetes)
3. QOF
4. Childhood immunisations
5. Cytology
6. Ear syringing
7. Wound care
8. ECGs
9. Venepuncture and the taking and preparing of pathology samples
10. Provision of health checks
11. Providing lifestyle advice and Information for patients
12. Provision of general nursing duties, wound care / ulcer care
13. Following agreed clinical protocolswith referral to GPs as appropriate
14. Develop,implement and embed health promotion and well-being programmes
Provideroutine nursing care to patients as required in accordance with current clinical-basedevidence.

The practice nurse will work as part of the wider practice clinical team providing general medical services to the practice population. You will work collaboratively to provide a full range of general nursing services and chronic disease management as required by the practice. You must be a registered nurse with full NMC

16. Qualified practice nurse with recent primary care experience.
17. Experienced in the management of chronic diseases (COPD/Asthma and Diabetes).
18. Competent with the administration of Immunisations and Vaccinations provided in the primary care environment (routine and childhood ).
19. Confident in women's health and cervical cytology.
20. Good understanding of QOF .
21. Competent in wound care management, Including the removal of sutures and staples.
22. Can perform ECGs.
23. Confident with venepuncture.
24. Experience of infection prevention and control measures.
25. Understands the requirement for PGDs and associated policy.
26. Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
27. Strong IT skills.
28. Clear, polite telephone manner.
29. Effective time management (planning and organising).
30. Ability to work as a team and autonomously.
31. Good interpersonal skills.
32. Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure.
33. Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) commensurate with the role of a Practice Nurse.
