Job Summary
Aptive Resources is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join the Northern Arizona VA Health System. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals and families facing mental health challenges or psychiatric illnesses. Your duties will include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, as well as identifying risk factors for psychiatric illness. Additionally, you will contribute to policy development, quality improvement initiatives, practice evaluation, and healthcare reform efforts within the VA system.
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Primary Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough assessments of patients to evaluate mental health status, including history, symptoms, and risk factors.
* Formulate accurate diagnoses based on assessment findings and diagnostic criteria.
* Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Provide evidence-based psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy interventions to address a range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), military sexual trauma (MST), depression, grief, and anxiety.
* Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and provide ongoing support and education to promote recovery and wellness.
* Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and case managers, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
* Participate in policy development initiatives, quality improvement projects, practice evaluation activities, and healthcare reform efforts to enhance mental health services within the VA system.
* Adhere to ethical and legal standards of psychiatric practice, including maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding professional boundaries.
* Stay abreast of advances in psychiatric research, treatment modalities, and evidence-based practices to inform clinical decision-making and enhance patient care.
Minimum Qualifications
* Master's degree or higher in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program.
* Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
* Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in any state.
* Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, preferably in a healthcare setting serving veterans or military populations.
* Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to identify risk factors for psychiatric illness and formulate effective treatment plans.
* Proficiency in evidence-based psychotherapy modalities and psychopharmacology, with a focus on treating PTSD, MST, depression, anxiety, grief, and other mental health conditions prevalent in veteran populations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
