We're looking for a dedicated teaching assistant to join our warm and welcoming team at Shafton Primary Academy in Barnsley. This role will specialise in supporting children with SEND / SEMH needs along with other wider classroom based support as and when required. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of young people. You're someone who'll be able to: Improve the learning and attainment Provide support to students with SEND (specifically SEMH and behaviour) working as a mixture of 1-1 and general classroom support of students while also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. Support students so that they can; access the curriculum, participate in learning and experience a sense of achievement. Provide classroom support in partnership with teachers. Deliver interventions for groups of children or individuals independently. You're someone who has: Motivation and enthusiasm. Understanding of pupil's learning needs, including specific SEND / SEMH needs, in order to support their access to lesson content. The skills to help students to develop independent learning skills. Ability to deliver individual and small group targeted interventions. A level 2 qualification in Teaching Assisting or in a relevant subject is essential, level 3 is advantageous.
