This isn't just any Art Manager role! It's a unique combination of premium art production and art direction, overseeing the day-to-day of client projects whilst mentoring a team of elite Art Directors and world-class artists.
As part of the Management team, the Art Manager is responsible for overseeing the creative production and delivery of all client projects across the studio. In this high-profile role they'll oversee the structure, operation and growth of our talented art teams.
Coaching, mentoring and team development are key focuses for this position, alongside working with the production team, to ensure the art teams and projects are structured and resourced appropriately.
Day to day, the Art Manager will Art Direct a selection of client projects as well as collaborate with the Senior Producer to onboard new clients and projects. Together with the Senior Producer, they will provide artistic, technical and commercial insight to create appropriate art estimates, schedules, approaches and plans across bidding and live projects. They will identify likely project risks and recommend appropriate mitigation & contingencies.
This is a full-time remote role. Applicants should be fluent in English and based in or near Europe.
Responsibilities
* Art Directing a selection of projects, giving hands-on artistic feedback and paintovers when necessary.
* Managing the Art team structure and in conjunction with Production, take a view on the best application of resources across projects.
* Acting as a gatekeeper of internal quality benchmarks ensuring the provision of the highest quality art within the industry (budget/schedule contingent).
* Presenting best practices to the Art team, critiquing problematic assets and workflows.
* Line managing, mentoring and developing the Art Director team, identifying growth opportunities of each individual, defining strategies to enlarge and enrich their competence and impact.
* Supporting the Senior Producer with creative and technical information for estimates, project bids, pitches and art tests.
* Translating commercial targets into creative decisions and approaches at the bidding stages, ensuring creative effort and focus is aligned with business goals.
* Alongside the Senior Producer, attending introductory client meetings, kick off calls and preliminary briefing sessions, as the creative voice of Mooncolony.
* Establishing a strong rapport with new and existing clients throughout the bidding/greenlighting process, ensuring creative and technical requirements are understood and communicated to internal teams.
* Fostering client relationships throughout live projects, maintaining high level oversight and serving as a creative escalation point if required.
* Setting new projects up for success and handing over to Art Directors, whilst maintaining high level oversight throughout.
* Supporting the Talent Acquisition Manager refine and roll out the studio talent strategy.
* Growing and nurturing a healthy and highly engaged work culture across the studio and art teams.
* Liaising with the Creative Director to ensure studio goals are met.
Skills & Requirements
* 10+ years experience in the entertainment industry with a passion for games.
* 5+ years experience in creative leadership role ie Art Director, Lead Artist, Art Manager
* Ability to organise and supervise creative teams to accomplish their goals.
* Scheduling, budgeting, and outsourcing experience.
* Strong knowledge of art content pipelines and asset management.
* Exceptional verbal, visual and written communication skills, with an ability to adapt your style to different situations and stakeholders.
* Immaculate attention to detail.
* Experience in managing small to medium size art teams.
* Vast experience in giving artistic feedback and doing paint overs.
* Experience of a wide range of art packages and where best they should be used.
* A commercial mindset with ability to identify opportunities, make strategic decisions and understand client needs.
* You'll enjoy presenting the company to clients, in person, on video calls and in decks and emails.
* A proven ability and experience of managing client relationships
* Pragmatic and autonomous approach to identifying and solving problems.
* Ability to provide constructive feedback on art processes, recognize areas for improvement and adapt workflows within a fluid environment.
* Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to make decisions, influence others and drive results.
