Job Description
You will be supporting the delivery of Maths and English, vocational Qualifications, and enrichment elements to help our students prepare for independence and work experience.
We expect every team member to work collaboratively and flexibly, with specific accountabilities including:
* Supporting our Tutor to deliver English, Maths and ICT Functional Skills, GCSE English and Maths resits, and a vocational subject (currently BTEC Work skills) over four teaching days.
* Supporting the Placement and Progression Officer to plan and deliver employability workshops, supporting guest speakers, and providing enrichment activities.
* Providing support to learners on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, with empathy, respect, and patience, acknowledging the challenges our students face.
* Contributing to regular student reviews, using these opportunities to build students’ self-belief and confidence.
* Supporting the tutor in addressing any poor behaviour appropriately.
* Promoting a culture of expectation and aspiration at the school, where students believe they can learn, grow, and succeed.

Qualifications
* A Teaching Assistant qualification at Level 2 or above, or a commitment to obtaining this qualification.
* Level 2 qualifications in English and maths, or a commitment to obtaining these qualifications.
Essential Skills and Experience
* High expectations of pupils’ behaviour and strategies for working with challenging pupils.
* Ability to motivate and encourage children appropriately.
* Experience of teaching children with EAL, SEN, Speech and language difficulties, and other complex needs.
* Ability to work independently, supported by the teacher, with groups or individual pupils.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Experience of teaching in an alternative provision environment.
* Understanding of curriculum, particularly literacy and numeracy requirements.
* Successful work with disaffected and emotionally vulnerable pupils.

Additional Information
Salary: £20,457.62 - £21,659.48 pro-rata (based on £23,575 - £24,960 full-time equivalent per annum)
Contract: 37 hours per week, term-time only, 39 weeks per annum.
Access to a personal vehicle is required.
