We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Humanities Teacher to teach History and Geography to secondary students with SEMH needs, helping to engage them in learning and develop key skills for the future.
The Role:
As a Humanities Teacher at our school, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons in History and Geography to students with SEMH. Your role will involve adapting and differentiating the curriculum to ensure that all students, regardless of their needs, are able to access and engage with the content. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team, helping students build their confidence, independence, and academic skills.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Humanities teacher who has experience working with students with SEMH or a passion for supporting students with additional needs. We are looking for someone who can inspire and motivate students while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver, and assess engaging History and Geography lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH.
* Differentiate lesson content and delivery to ensure that all students can access the curriculum and make progress.
* Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported and motivated to learn.
* Track and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
* Develop and implement strategies to support the social, emotional, and academic development of students.
* Work closely with teaching assistants and other support staff to ensure that all students receive the necessary support.
* Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of the school's curriculum.
* Be a positive role model, promoting good behaviour, resilience, and respect within the school community.
* Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development to enhance teaching practice.
About You:
* A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and experience in teaching History and Geography at secondary level.
* A passion for Humanities and the ability to make the subjects engaging and accessible for students with SEMH.
* Experience or a strong interest in working with students with SEMH, special educational needs, or behavioural challenges is desirable but not essential.
* Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching.
* A commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed.
* A proactive approach to supporting the personal, social, and emotional development of students.
