Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in:
1. Providing support to all teams across several contracts with the avoidance of underground services.
2. Provide skilled advice to the operational teams following surveys, in the safe methods to be utilised in excavations.
3. To train operatives in the effective use of Cable Detection Equipment & techniques.
4. To train operatives in the understanding of Public Utility plans and drawings.
5. To liaise and train operatives in the supply chain in the effective use of Cable Detection Equipment & Techniques and in the understanding of Public Utility plans and drawings.
6. To liaise with utility companies and clients/consultants to obtain site plans of underground and overhead plant.
7. To assist investigating instances of damage to utility plant and recommend actions to prevent re-occurrence.
8. To keep records of all training provided and regularly report on progress to Operations Managers.
9. Contract champion in the location of and hazard identification and the risks associated with them, reading and interpreting site plans.
10. Leading and coordinating contract training and the practical use of equipment.
11. Develop and update training for planning work, using cable plans, cable locating devices and safe digging practices in accordance with company processes.
12. Undertake ad-hoc site audits to ensure compliance with company procedures.
13. To ensure all Ringway Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
14. To follow and utilise the Business Management System.
15. Incident Management – assisting with incident investigations as required, supporting the appointment investigating officer.
16. Maintain an awareness of developments and improvement in technology used in detection of services.
17. Partake in working groups as required representing the company.
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities:
The purpose of this role is to provide specialist training and support for the avoidance of underground and over ground services. You will also be required to undertake surveys of complex sites to assist in our design and build programme with our various clients.
Skills required:
• Skilled in the use of all equipment used in the detection of utility services.
• Ability to conduct effective training with staff, operatives and subcontractors.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Ability to prioritise work and manage workload.

Knowledge:
An understanding of the principles of appropriate Health and Safety.
Ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and appropriate software.
Ability to generate GS6 assessments for overhead cables.
New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and associated codes of practice.
