Litigation Executive/Paralegal - Aviation

Our team specialise in defending a wide range of aviation related claims and litigation with a particular emphasis in working for international airports in defence of claims and litigation arising from their everyday aviation activities. You will work as part of the team as a Litigation Executive, ensuring that clients can take flight and that they are confident that their legal affairs are dealt with in a professional and competent manner. This is a hybrid full time role, with a typical week involving 3 days in the Leeds office and 2 at home, although full time office-based work is available if desired.
What will I be doing?
* Defending claims and litigation using HF’s Case Management System.
* Managing a caseload of up to around 50 injury cases of value up to £25,000.
* Ensuring compliance with Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and Law Society Practice Management Standards.
* Handling files on a delegated basis and complying with client SLAs.
* Referring cases for supervision and guidance.
* Engaging in telephone negotiations, liaising with third party solicitors, own insurer clients, and insured clients.
* Drafting documents including applications, offers, proposed orders, and directions.
* Attending telephone conferences, applications, and court hearings.
* Managing time effectively using organisational skills and HF’s case management system.
* Seeing cases through from letter of claim to conclusion in a cost-effective manner.
* Understanding the litigation process and offering solutions to legal problems.
* Completing MI and complying with HF practice and procedures.
* Complying with SLAs and working to deadlines.
Other Responsibilities:
* Assisting with the efficient running of the office.
* Performing other responsibilities assigned by the Management Team as requested.
We have a strong reputation for successfully advising on claims including aircraft damage, personal injury, fatal accidents, discrimination, Montreal Convention, EC1107/2006, property damage, regulatory & compliance, major loss, emergency response, and liability. Client engagement is high in this team and some work-related travel is required.
What do I need?
You will have an interest in civil litigation including personal injury claims and property damage claims. Experience in a Defendant insurance litigation firm is preferred but not essential as full training will be given. Claimant lawyers looking for a change are of interest to us.
Experience with the Montreal Convention and EU1107/2006 is of interest, but not essential as full training will be provided.
Previous experience dealing with personal injury claims using the portal and DCP is preferable. Knowledge of the CPR, the SRA Code of Conduct, and their application will be an advantage.
You should be able to meet/exceed billing targets and have a client-centric approach with excellent client care skills.
