This is an exciting opportunity for candidates who have recently earned their CCT and are looking to gain experience and bolster their portfolios working in a large Emergency Department alongside a great team of Consultant Emergency Physicians. We seek to recruit highly motivated Emergency Physicians, who will be part of the multi professional team delivering high quality compassionate emergency care to the people of Cardiff and South Wales. They will be encouraged to develop or maintain an area of special interest alongside their role as a Post CCT Fellow in Emergency Medicine.
Main duties of the job
You will provide with consultant colleagues a service in Emergency Medicine to UHW, with responsibility for the prevention, reception, diagnosis and treatment of all patients presenting to the Emergency Unit.
You will be expected to perform the role as Trauma Team Leader for all trauma patients brought in by road or air. You will be expected to coordinate the preparation, reception and resuscitation of the patient. You are responsible for the ongoing transfer of the trauma patient. The opportunity for the post CCT Fellow will be a minimum of 1 TTL shift per fortnight.
You will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge in liaison with consultant colleagues and for the proper functioning of the department in line with the Operational Policy and Strategic Plan (as amended from time to time).
You will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.

* On Specialist Register for specialty / Specialist Registrar with CCT / CESR(CP) due within six months of interview date.
* ATLS, APLS, ALS certification.
* FRCEM or equivalent.
Desirable
* Higher Degree.
* Instructor in one or more Advanced Life Support courses.

* Current hands-on experience in the management of adult and paediatric emergencies and the full spectrum of presentations to a modern emergency unit.
