Role Overview:
As a Solution Architect, you will play a key role in transforming public transport technology for our clients, blending systems engineering expertise with strong customer-facing skills. This role suits an experienced solution architect within public transport who can design and integrate complex systems that meet diverse operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
* Solution Design & Development: Work closely with clients to identify, design, and tailor technology solutions that meet requirements around vehicle location, ticketing, passenger information, and operational planning.
* System Integration: Act as the bridge between customer needs and available technology, leveraging existing products and collaborating with internal SMEs to integrate different systems and ensure cohesive functionality.
* Technical Advisory: Advise clients on the practicalities of integrating ticketing systems (e.g., EMV payment), Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems, and planning solutions, as well as future scalability and adaptation for complex operational demands.
* Collaboration & Coordination: Facilitate workshops and whiteboard sessions with internal and external stakeholders to align system architecture and application design with the client’s operational goals.
* Product Expertise: Keep up-to-date with industry competitors and technological advancements, understanding how various systems like ticketing and AVL interlink to meet real-time passenger information needs.
* Support & Training: Provide guidance and training to clients, ensuring they can utilise and maintain their systems effectively without needing foundational industry knowledge or complex IT support.
Requirements:
* Technical Background: Ideally comes from a systems engineering background, with hands-on experience in building and designing public transport or similar complex systems.
* Public Transport Expertise: Extensive knowledge of the public transport sector, specifically related to AVL, ticketing, real-time passenger information, and potentially scheduling/planning solutions.
* Customer-Facing Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to sit with customers, quickly understand their needs, and articulate technology solutions in a clear and actionable manner.
* System Knowledge: Familiarity with public transport ticketing solutions (including EMV and tap-and-go systems), AVL, and back-office planning systems.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to work with both off-the-shelf solutions and bespoke modifications to meet unique customer needs.
* IT Proficiency: Solid foundational IT knowledge, especially around system architecture, though deep expertise in cloud or data analytics is not essential.
* Collaborative Approach: Ability to lead whiteboarding sessions and work across departments to create comprehensive and integrated solutions.
