Apprentice Information Security Analyst

We are an innovative and market leading software & services company based in Chorley serving clients in the utility sector ranging from new entrants to large existing suppliers. We deliver sophisticated software solutions and managed services in a Private Cloud infrastructure, servicing both traditional and modern real-time, smart energy clients.
This is a global role encompassing security systems on both sides of the Atlantic to maintain the security of all data and systems in the ESG environment. The apprentice Information Security Analyst will be expected to support security operations and vulnerability management processes through a variety of daily tasks. These will be designed to not only increase your knowledge and skills relating to cyber security, but take a service led approach to support ESG colleagues by reducing information security risks.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support for monitoring, logging, triage, escalation and resolution of security alerts and cyber security threats as a first point of contact working with global teams to resolve alerts and events.
2. Support interpretation of security reports and support resolution of issues identified.
3. Support investigation, reporting and remediation of security incidents.
4. Support penetration testing and vulnerability management programs coordinating remediation efforts with other internal teams.
5. Support the maintenance of internal security policy to maintain compliance.
6. Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT Security industry, including the development of new attacks and threat vectors.
7. All other related duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU
Experience
1. An interest in Cyber Security and/or pursuing a career within a cyber security-related role.
2. Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including network security, encryption, authentication, and access control.
3. Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network protocols.
4. Familiarity with Cloud Environments such as Microsoft Entra or Amazon AWS.
5. An ability to work with Microsoft Office 365 software.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills.
8. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team or independently.
9. Happy working and studying flexibly in an office environment and remotely.
10. Able to demonstrate ESGs key values of excellence, passion, integrity, and collaboration.
Education
1. Essential: 5 GCSEs inclusive of English and Mathematics OR equivalent
2. Desirable: GCSE in Computer Science or similar OR equivalent
