The Role Our client is recruiting a support worker to provide mainly daytime support to a 37-year-old man with an acquired brain injury living in his own home. Shifts are 8 am to 6 pm on a rota basis, including weekdays, weekends, bank holidays, and some evening shifts. Two support workers are planned to provide care. In addition to regular shifts, there is the opportunity to pick up extra shifts to cover sickness and annual leave. The client lives in the Reigate/Merstham area. He has a military background and very much enjoys getting out into the community, as well as taking part in social and leisure pursuits such as cycling and attending the local gyms and swimming pools. He enjoys social participation and talking to people. Due to his brain injury, he requires support with aspects of daily living, including preparation of meals, domestic tasks and his engagement in social & leisure interests. Still, he has a great determination to be as independent as possible. Assistance with the client’s mobility rehabilitation is essential to the role. Following his brain injury, his limitations are predominately physical, and these are constantly improving. He is a highly driven, upbeat and positive person with a great sense of humour and appreciative of his team. It should be noted that the client has cats and dogs. Support Requirements To maximise the client’s independence. To work closely with the client’s rehabilitation team, including a physiotherapist and speech and language therapist. They are looking for someone who is dynamic, self-motivated, and enthusiastic. They should be able to work independently with the client and be good team players. Up-to-date Adult Workforce DBS at the enhanced level is required – the employer will pay if you need to apply. Must hold a full driver’s licence. About them: Our client does not directly employ support workers, but they recruit them on behalf of the clients. Their dedicated and experienced case managers are responsible for the day-to-day management of the support team. They provide access to mandatory training and brain injury-specific training. They also provides regular 1:1 clinical supervision and 24/7 emergency on-call support. They have experienced payroll and human resources teams, so support workers always have a point of contact for employment and pay queries.
