Job summary
The London Imaging Academy online learning platform is an exciting new educational platform that has been created for the Diagnostic Imaging community in the NHS, across London. This award-nominated project is hosted by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with NHS England and the five Imaging Academies in London. We are offering a Radiographer Education Co-Lead post to design and deliver online, self-paced educational content for Radiographers and Support Workers.
In addition, the London Imaging Academy holds Society of Radiographer Accreditation for a course delivering Intravenous (IV) Cannulation and Contrast Administration. The postholder will be responsible for delivery of this training to NHS colleagues across London. The expectation will be 1 day per week dedicated to each element of the role.
This post is suitable for senior Radiographers who are trained in Cannulation and Contrast Administration and wish to gain experience in educational project management, education content creation and delivery.
We have two vacancies for this role - post holders will be expected to work together to deliver cannulation training and work both together and independently to create educational content.
Main duties of the job
The post holder(s) will be responsible for developing, planning, organising and delivering accredited Cannulation and Contrast Administration training courses to colleagues across London and developing a train the trainer model.
Post holder(s) will also be responsible for producing online educational content for the London Imaging Academy learning platform. You will work closely with the project team and professional media partners, as well as colleagues from across London when necessary, to produce high quality, innovative educational content that benefits radiographers and support workers across London.
Job responsibilities
* Lead an effective training and education programme for the benefit of Radiographers and Support Workers across London, including producing online training materials on a variety of topics for the London Imaging Academy learning platform.
* Identify key areas of focus for educational content creation, both for Radiographers and Support Workers across London and deliver high quality educational materials, courses and programmes.
* Deliver specialist training in Intravenous (IV) Cannulation and Contrast Administration to all London NHS hospitals, maintaining Society and College of Radiographers accredited status.
* Where required, train NHS colleagues across London to deliver cannulation training (train the trainer programme development).
* Collaborate with Radiographers and Radiography Practice Educators across the London region and promote resource sharing, reduction of duplication of new training materials and collaboration.
* Produce, review and update training, and educational documents as required and lead on applications with accrediting bodies for course accreditation.
* Provide expert opinion on new techniques and training requirements to support equipment procurement and future strategy of the London Imaging Academy learning platform.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
* MSc Diagnostic Radiography
* Clinical tuition qualification or Post graduate Practice Educator qualification
Professional / Statutory Registration Essential
* State registration with the Health & Care Professions Council UK (HCPC)
Experience Essential
* Experience of teaching and assessing Radiographers in clinical practice
* A proven track record of leading education and development of teaching programmes in radiography including Society of Radiography accredited intravenous cannulation training
* Wide range of proven technical ability and extensive clinical experience within Radiography
Desirable
* Experience of or demonstrated interest in self-paced education content development and learning management systems
Skills Essential
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to establish clear work priorities and ensure capability to deliver, monitor performance of training programmes and respond to feedback.
* Shows awareness of quality and service requirements within an Imaging department
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
Desirable
* Familiarity with Moodle and/or Moodle Workplace software
* Good presentation skills
