Job Description Materials Test Programme Development Engineer Full time Derby / Hybrid 3 days on-site What you will be doing: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Materials Engineer to join the Digital Tools and Data Team, based in Derby. As a Materials Test Programme Development Engineer, you will work alongside the Materials Testing Specialist at MTOC (RRD), testing supply chain and the GRANTA data team to coordinate and improve our current materials testing process in the UK. You will provide knowledge and expertise and execute tasks on the development of materials, processes, models and analysis methods, the application of materials to the design, test, manufacture, and service operation of systems, the approval, validation and control of raw materials and / or component manufacturing processes, and the execution of failure or defect investigations. To provide knowledge, expertise and guidance in chemistry and/or corrosion disciplines deployed in the support of the full product life-cycle. We are looking for someone who has a broad understanding of materials, has excellent co-ordination abilities to manage several work streams simultaneously and good IT skills, with the potential to be able to make process improvement recommendations with a view to moving towards automation. Responsibilities: Resolve problems through evaluative judgements. Analyses factual information from multiple sources, interprets results and identifies effective solutions by applying their own technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement. Define technical packages of work providing leadership and delivery against programme milestones within agreed costs, timescales and quality requirements. Point of contact within Materials Engineering and to share subject matter knowledge across the function. This may include providing advisory services to designated customers, influencing their peer group, representing senior departmental staff and acting as advisor / coach on matters where they are technically authoritative Understand company business objectives and ensure that the work they do supports this; To act in accordance with both the company values and those associated with being a professional engineer. Technical experience relevant to the Engineering discipline. Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience with membership to a relevant professional body.
