An opportunity has arisen for a driven and highly competent individual to join the Clinical Informatics team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Teaching Hospitals. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual willing to participate in the delivery of a high-quality service.
The position is part time, 22.5 hours per week. 3 days per week, worked over 5 days (Monday to Friday).
The successful candidate will have proven experience in this field including specialist knowledge of IT systems such as Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Image Exchange Portal (IEP), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Solutions.
As the Deputy PACS/CRIS manager you will assist in the management and development of the IT systems supported by this post. Maintaining effective service delivery, responding to evolving clinical and non-clinical service needs. The post holder will have extensive knowledge in all issues relating to and affecting PACS and associated clinical systems. Leading on projects to support service development, quality, and improvements. It will also be essential to support training and development of clinical and non-clinical staff in relation to PACS/digital imaging systems.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the IT, IM&T, and Radiology teams to ensure that the clinical images are available where required for patient management, diagnosis and treatment and will liaise closely with all clinical teams and departments. The Deputy PACS/CRIS manager will also work closely with our external suppliers to ensure the PACS and CRIS system is fully functional to its required performance. This position is critical in maintaining operational flow, maintenance and the development of services and systems within the scope of the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Work with the PACS Manager, Clinical Informatics Manager, IM&T Teams and other members of Radiology team to assist in developing and implementing service improvement made possible by PACS/CRIS systems.
* Have knowledge of work practices in Radiology in regard to adhering to broad guidelines and From DoH with regard to PACS/CRIS issues e.g. data sharing.
* Take responsibility for the day-to-day organisation and maintenance of PACS and its data.
* Be involved in communication between the Radiology Department, Trust IT Department, PACS and imaging equipment suppliers, helping to coordinating system upgrades and new developments.
* Maintain an accurate log of PACS and imaging assets showing their current performance status and system information. (IP address, location, reference number, etc).
* Monitor and maintain procedures for recording faults.
* In conjunction with PACS & CRIS managers, PACS Team and IT Helpdesk, provide technical knowledge on IT problem solving and fault resolution to include PCs and other system peripherals monitoring faults to identify problem areas. This will be done using Hornbill.
* Work closely with modality leads, radiologists, radiographers, clerical staff and CRIS/PACS and External imaging suppliers.
* Administer, together with PACS and CRIS manager, PACS Team and supplier, system operations including interfaces and attached devices, printing, housekeeping, archiving, and ensuring daily backup of critical servers are being performed.
* Participate in clinical audit.
* Monitor staff competence and provide further training when necessary.
* Work quickly and accurately to meet deadlines.
* To perform radiography as required in keeping with Departmental protocols - This is expected to be an average of 2 days per month to maintain clinical skills.
* To set high standards of radiography as determined by Standard Procedures and Directorate Policies.
* To be responsible for the correct care of patients attending for diagnostic imaging.
* To ensure Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACS) images are in keeping with standards required in department protocols.
* To assess a radiological referral is relevant in keeping from Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations (IRMER) 2018.
* Participate in data collection and audit for the trusts expanding artificial intelligence portfolio.
* Support implementation of innovative radiology / digital solutions e.g Artificial Intelligence.
* Have a high level of dexterity, correlation and sensory skills and a high level of co-ordination to do complex physical skills to manipulate patients safely for positioning and equipment with precision on a daily basis.
* To be able to demonstrate a high degree of physical co-ordination to be able to use keyboard skills to manipulate images and for data entry.
* Have high visual skills for imaging interpretation.

Experience
* Recent hospital experience.
* Expert PACS /CRIS user.
* Evidence of effective communication skills
* Broad experience of radiology digital systems, with clear understanding of these system and how they fit with other electronic systems for clinical benefits.
* Understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems within healthcare.
* Working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions
* Proven track record and practical experience of developing a PACS project.
