Consultant in Ophthalmology special interest in Glaucoma and Retina
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated primary care Ophthalmology Consultant required to cover medical Glaucoma and medical retina clinics, but willing to cover general Ophthalmology, as required by the department to join our dedicated and professional multi-disciplined ophthalmic team.
You will be a highly valued member of the team bringing your expertise and skills to a busy Ophthalmology department. The post will be complementary to the current sub-specialty interests of Medical Retina, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Uveitis, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Cornea.
The service is supported by Specialty Doctors, Orthoptists and Specialist Nurses.
This is a consultant post at 1.0 WTE including ad hoc theatre session(s), outpatient clinics, admin and SPA. This post does have an on-call requirement: First on call one night a week 5-9pm and second on call 1:4 Weekends - 9am to 9pm.
This is an exciting time to be joining the team, as the department is in the planning process of being moved off the hospital site and into Barnsley town centre, as part of the first phase of Health On The High Street (HOTH) project.

Experience
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients.
* Evidence of a wide experience in Ophthalmology and UK experience.
* Ability to run independent cataract lists.
* Experience of supervision of Ophthalmology trainees.
* Evidence of logical thinking and an ability to make clear and balanced decisions.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the development needs of trainees and how these can be met.
Specific Requirements

Qualifications
* FRCOphth or equivalent.
* Full GMC registration.
* On the specialist register, or within 6 months of CSST at the time of interview.
* MD or equivalent Higher Degree.
