Position
An opportunity has arisen for a Moving and Handling Advisor at CSU Ailsa Hospital.
What you will do:
You will have a relevant healthcare qualification (e.g., Nursing/Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy) with substantive post-registration experience, including in a range of challenging patient handling settings. You will have been responsible for planning patient care and have had previous involvement in training delivery. Training and assessing handler competence is essential to this role, so you must have excellent communication skills and be capable of demonstrating good handling practice as a requirement of national competency standards.
Previous attendance on an instructor/key worker course in Moving and Handling patients is essential, and evidence of further development towards the Scottish Manual Handling Passport competency criteria for manual handling roles is desirable.
Consideration will also be given to candidates who may not possess all the competence criteria to fully meet the post specification (under Annex 21 conditions). These candidates, if successful, would receive full support and training through a competency programme and be expected to complete this within 18 months of being in post.
Knowledge, training, and/or experience required to do the job:
* Must have a relevant healthcare qualification, e.g., Nursing/Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy background.
* Relevant experience in a range of challenging patient handling situations.
* Should have attained or be willing to attain postgraduate patient handling qualifications, e.g., Scottish Manual Handling Trainers Certificate or National Back Exchange Advanced Membership.
* Must have, or be willing to obtain, an accredited and appropriate moving and handling trainer’s certificate.
* Evidence of relevant training experience and ongoing personal and professional development.
* Demonstrate ability to communicate information clearly and use appropriate training tools.
Hours: 22.2 per week
UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership: UK Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.
