Job Description Electrical Systems Engineer – Verification & Validation - Full-time Derby/Bristol/Solihull/Hybrid An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Systems Verification & Validation Engineer to join our growing team, working on a technology development programme for a more-electric power and propulsion platform in advance of a New Product Introduction programme. Projects include concept architecture studies, modelling, simulation, prototype development and full-scale product demonstrators. Currently we have applications that are considering power levels from a few kW up to several MW supported by voltage levels up to 5kV. In the role of Electrical Systems Verification & Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for the verification & validation strategy and the coordinated testing of multiple novel technologies being integrated together into an electrical system. What you will be doing: Leadership: Technical leadership for technology verification program, including but not limited to coaching junior engineers, project management, stakeholder management, technical leadership. Development of test specifications for the rig with a range of subject matter experts from different teams. Identifying the testing, instrumentation and equipment needed to support verification. Ensuring traceability of the test evidence through from requirements and ultimately creating a test plan from these specifications. Developing the electrical aspects of the test rig design, producing the requirements and specifications for electrical equipment required and managing their delivery and integration into the test facility to meet project timescales. Defining the requirements and managing the design of the rig control system(s), which is likely to include working with other teams to develop, as well as some aspects of software development and debugging. Working with subject matter experts to identify and define the operational limits and safety parameters for the equipment. Test engineer on-site during testing, responsible for operational decisions and investigations. Knowledge Sharing: Leads the sharing of Best Practice; represents the area as an authority in their defined subject; provides concise justification for decisions; records and captures salient information in reports and systems. Who we’re looking for: Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum BEng degree or other national equivalent, higher degree preferred) with a background in aerospace electrical systems. Experience in verification and validation of electrical systems, preferably in the aerospace sector. Fundamental understand of electrical systems/electrical engineering and preferably experience in rig design and testing. Experience in writing technical documents such as test equipment requirements and specifications, verification and validation strategies, test specifications and technical standards.
