There are schools around Paignton seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teacher to support students with additional needs. The successful candidate will create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, helping students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. This role begins March 2025.
Duties of a SEMH Teacher:
* Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH needs.
* Provide a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
* Develop strategies to promote positive behaviour, emotional resilience, and self-confidence.
* Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies to support student progress.
* Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
* Implement and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans.
* Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and carers.
* Encourage personal and social development through engaging activities and interventions.
Ideal SEMH Teacher:
* A degree in Education, SEN, Psychology, or a related field.
* A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
* Experience working with students with SEMH needs, SEN, or challenging behaviour.
* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
* Empathy, patience, and a commitment to inclusive education as an SEMH Teacher.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
