Due to expansion, we are currently seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to assist in supporting a small group of pupils based at our established SEN School in Congleton. The role will also include supporting our Assistant Psychologist and school administration support.
This school is a friendly and successful provision, currently supporting a number of vulnerable young children aged 7-18 years with special education needs.

Key Responsibilities for a HLTA/Administration Assistant:
We are looking for outstanding, committed and motivated individuals to contribute to the development of teaching, learning and curriculum. Pupils will be expected to cover a range of qualification ranging from Entry Level Certificates, through Functional Skills to GCSE. This will be an exciting opportunity for a dedicated classroom practitioner who can display a real passion for inspiring and challenging the pupils at the school.
The role of the HLTA/Administration Assistant will include (but is not limited to):
* Contributing to the educational and social development of each young person
* Form effective relationships with young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agencies
* Ensuring that young people’s views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate
* Ensuring safeguarding of all young people underpins every decision made
* Assisting in planning and preparing lessons with teachers, evaluating and adjusting lessons/plans where necessary
* Developing and prepare resources for learning activities in accordance with lesson plans and in response to student needs
* Identify strategies to help overcome individual pupils’ barriers to learning
* Ensuring that records are maintained accurately and progress is monitored
* Maintaining outstanding professional practice
Help in ensuring the smooth-running of the school
Forming effective relationships with support departments to ensure the efficient running of the school administration (including maintenance, health and safety processes, ordering of provisions and processing payments
Being an efficient and effective point of contact for all enquiries on the telephone, by email or in person
Ensuring safeguarding of all young people underpins every decision made
Scheduling meetings and ensuring the delegates are notified
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Expertise for a HLTA/Administration Assistant:
* Experience in supporting young people who have special educational needs (highly desirable)
* Proven experience in working in an education setting (essential)
* Proven experience in working with young people that challenge (essential)
* Sound curriculum knowledge
* A committed, conscientious and passionate approach
* Dedication to support inclusion
* The ability to plan, evaluate and monitor learning and progress
* The ability to differentiate all aspects of learning to promote inclusion and attainment
* The ability to build good relationships with young people and staff members
* Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and use time effectively
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* A positive attitude to hard work and challenging situations
* A good sense of humour
* Excellent working knowledge of programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and numeracy skills
* Excellent organisation skills, able to multi-task and prioritise work effectively
* A friendly manner with all visitors and stakeholders
* Strong administration skills
* Experience of working in a SEMH/SEND school (desirable)
* The ability to update and maintain records on internal databases/systems
* Understanding and experience of maintaining safeguarding and security procedures
* The ability to respond to time sensitive tasks (often during busy periods) and meet deadlines
