The Oncology research department at BR is recruiting a Research Scientist with a strong background in cellular and molecular biology to join their Target validation and drug discovery group based in Cambridge, MA. We seek a motivated and ambitious scientist wishing to continue a successful scientific career in a fast-paced drug discovery environment.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Generates hypotheses to test, troubleshoots issues and designs and executes the next set of experiments with some input from senior lab members/manager.
2. Design, perform and interpret in vitro experiments under the leadership of the Lab Head.
3. Propose experimental alternatives, explore and introduce novel technologies and approaches.
4. Analyze and effectively report data, as well as presenting the data in different team meetings.
5. Critical reading of the literature and ability to apply it to the project.
6. Closely work with multiple teams across expertise groups within Oncology.
7. Efficiently contribute to maintain a functional laboratory, technical equipment and tools.
Essential Requirements:
1. This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will not require any travel. Please note that this role would not provide relocation and only local candidates will be considered.
2. This is a dual posting. The final level and title of the offer role would be determined by the hiring team based on the skills, experience, and capabilities required to perform the role at the level the role has been offered (Research Scientist I / II).
3. Research Scientist I: 1-2 years of biomedical research experience.
4. Research Scientist II: 2+ years of biomedical research experience.
5. Bachelor Degree in cellular biology, molecular biology or another relevant discipline.
6. Proficiency and hands-on experience in applying a wide range of cellular and molecular biological methods.
7. Excellent presentation and communication skills in English (oral/written).
8. Used to successfully work within a highly productive and fast-paced environment.
9. Highly collaborative and self-motivated team player, with critical scientific thinking.
10. Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Requirements:
1. Masters Degree in cellular biology, molecular biology or another relevant discipline.
2. CRISPR, shRNA, qRT-PCR, cloning, cell culture, cell viability/death assays, transient/stable cell line generation, immunoblotting, FACS.
3. Experience using basic bioinformatics tools to support experimental design, data analysis and interpretation.
Salary Range
$60,600.00 - $112,600.00
