You will provide a clinically focused and innovative pharmacy service to the Renal team at Heartlands. In addition, you will have the opportunity to be involved in reviewing and writing guidelines, risk management within the Renal team, and education and training.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
* To provide highly specialist clinical pharmacist input to the Renal specialty.
* To proactively deliver, develop and evaluate specialist clinical pharmacy services to Renal patients at Heartlands, working clinically on inpatient wards and outpatient clinics, providing excellent pharmaceutical care and advice.
* To support the introduction of new therapies and technologies for the treatment of a variety of renal diseases.
* To work as an independent prescriber, initiating and optimising treatment, with support to undertake your NMP or develop your knowledge in this field if already achieved.
* To deliver audits, Quality Improvement Projects, and Cost Improvement Programs to support the specialty and department.
* To deliver education and training on medication in renal disease to different healthcare professionals, including junior doctors, nurses, and other members of the pharmacy team.
* You will join a large specialist pharmacy team covering multiple specialties and will be supported by experienced pharmacists to develop and transition to providing leadership, management, and operational support.
* Depending on experience and qualifications, there is an opportunity to develop from a senior support pharmacist (band 7) into a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist (band 8a) or start at this level through a structured development program.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent).
* Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Has completed a postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent advanced practice.
* Willingness to work towards a non-medical prescribing qualification.
Desirable
* Has completed a non-medical prescribing course and registered as an NMP with the GPhC.
* Working towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS.
Experience
Essential
* Possesses relevant clinical knowledge in complex clinical pharmacy settings.
* Previous participation in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care.
* Experience of teaching/presenting to other healthcare professionals/patients.
* Commitment to own Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Desirable
* Experience in Renal Medicine services.
