Position: Social Work Assistant (Children and Families Practice Team)
Location: South West Children and Families Practice Team, Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre
Salary: £28,046 - £32,010
Hours: 36 per week
We have 2 permanent positions available.
The successful post holder will contribute to the provision of a range of services to meet the needs of families experiencing difficulties. A driving licence is desirable.
Social Work Assistants will work alongside social workers as part of a team with children and young people who need protection, are Looked After, or are children in need, and their families/carers. They will work in strengths-based and restorative ways to get alongside children, families, and carers, build positive relationships, identify what they need to keep them safe, and support plans which improve wellbeing for children, young people, and their families/carers. This will include direct work, supporting family time between children who are accommodated and their families, and parenting work. Additionally, there will be opportunities for working with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC). Experience of direct work with children is desirable.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
